ABOUT NADI HISTORY

These ancient Nadi astrology practices began centuries ago. There were Rishis who had the vision to see the future of anyone on Earth. Nadi Astrologers use these palm leaves to forecast the future of people in this day and age. Rishis in ancient India applied their intellect and developed many arts & science for the benefit of future generations. Astrology is one of these sciences. Astrology has many branches, including Horoscopy. Casting and reading horoscopes using the positions of planets during the birth of a person, as well as the movement of the planets through the Zodiac. Ancient texts such as Brihatsamhita Jathaka Paarijatha etc. prove that this is a highly developed science.

Maharajah Serfoji II, a patron of arts and sciences, kept these leaves in the library of his palace so that they could be used for future generations. These leaves were retrieved by the British during their reign and sold to Indian families who still have them. They continue to teach people how to read the leaves and maintain the leaves. This allows people to still benefit from ancient advice given by these Siddhas, also known as Naadi Astrology Family. These Siddhas now consider themselves to be a Nadi Astrologer Family. Mr.G.Natarajan Swamy, a Nadi reader who works in the area of Vaitheeswaran koil, belongs to a family that is among the best nadi families.

These leaves were discovered around the 12th century in Tamil Nadu, South India’s ancient Vaitheeswaran Koil. Since then, the Nayanars who found the leaves have kept them safe. They realized the value of these leaves and made exact copies. The only other community that has been trained for generations to read and interpret the leaves to make predictions is the Nayanars. They are also the only ones who still use traditional nadi astrology and have access to Nadi leaves. The library was a great source of information for astrologers interested in nadi. These palm leaves may have been originally written on animal hides. Some leaves later texts were copied onto palm leaves. The oil extracted from the blood of peacocks was also used to maintain these sources. In South India, Vaitheeswaran Koil is the primary centre of Nadi Astrology.
